For the second consecutive year, Formula 1 will start the season in Bahrain at the Sakhir circuit, which will also be the location of the second winter testing session of 2022. In 2021, the sport skipped the traditional Barcelona round of winter tests by carrying out three days of testing in Bahrain before starting the championship at the Sakhir track, with Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton beating Max Verstappen at the end of a very exciting race.
This year the expectation will be even higher since the Bahrain Grand Prix will be the first race of the new generation of single-seaters designed to encourage duels on the track thanks to the ground effect and the new 18-inch tires developed by Pirelli. During yesterday’s press conference for the presentation of the Grand Prix program for the first round of the new season, the International Bahrain Circuit has officially confirmed that the three days of winter tests scheduled from 10 to 12 March will be open to the public in ways that will be communicated in the coming days in compliance with any restrictions due to the Coronavirus pandemic, which is still creating problems due to the Omicron variant.

The press conference was preceded by the unveiling of a representative single-seater built according to the forms which should replicate the new technical regulations. On the other hand, no other official news has yet arrived regarding the possibility for fans to attend the first practice session from the fans, at the Circuit de Catalunya, scheduled to take place from 23 to 25 February.
