Scuderia Ferrari has decided that it will present its new ground-effect single-seater via the web on 17 February in defiance of any form of superstition. The founder of the Maranello team, Re Enzo, would never have thought about launching a new car in an… unfortunate day.
On the agenda of the Maranello team, there was a period of three days (netween 16 and 18) which were taken into consideration for the presentation of the new Formula 1 car. February 18th is the day of the theoretical birth of the Drake (his birth was recorded on the 20th of February due to a heavy snowstorm, which had prevented his father from reporting the correct date of birth at the local registry office. For this reason, his birth certificate states that he was born on the 20th of February 1898, which in reality was the 18th of February, while the actual birth registration took place on the 24th of February 1898 and was reported by the midwife)
In reality, the presentation date is the result of a schedule that takes into account a count-down: the debut of the car in Barcelona on the filming day scheduled for February 22, one day before the testing session at the Circuit de Catalunya.
Formula 1 asked the teams to present themselves on the Spanish track with a provisional livery, in order to show the true colors only on the occasion of the tests in Bahrain that will precede the debut of the ground-effect single-seaters in Sakhir.

According to rumors, therefore, the Ferrari car that we will see in streaming at the presentation and then on the track at Montmelò will be a matt red with a shade very similar to that of the SF21, while the livery of the 2022 season will be more old style and, therefore, darker, perhaps in deference to the 75 years of the company, taking into account that the SF1000 seen at the Tuscan Grand Prix on the occasion of the Scuderia’s thousandth F1 race had received a lot of appreciation (only) for its livery.
Given the Ferrari cars with celebratory acronyms (F60 and SF1000 disappointed from a performance point of view), we hope that the new red car will not become the SF75…
