Ferrari: reorganization of the technical area
In recent weeks, after the resignation of Italian aerodynamicist Enrico Cardile from the role of technical director, team principal Frederic Vasseur had announced that Ferrari was working on defining the team’s technical organization. The French manager then scheduled an announcement for after the Italian Grand Prix at Monza to formalize the new positions.
Diego Tondi confirms the promotion
The first piece of the puzzle was revealed by Diego Tondi himself, who, through a post published on the social network LinkedIn, confirmed his new role as Head of Aerodynamics.
The Italian engineer previously held the role of head of aerodynamic development and has had a long tenure at Maranello, which began in October 2007. His first job was in the road car department, using CFD simulation and the wind tunnel, and he moved to the Formula 1 team in 2008 as a wind tunnel test engineer, a role he held for two years. Diego Tondi’s responsibilities grew year after year, dedicating himself to the CFD development of the front end of the car until he became the team leader of the 18 people developing the front end of the car. In 2018, he was promoted to the key figure for the concept of the new cars, and in 2020, he became head of aerodynamics. In January 2021, he was appointed Head of Aerodynamic Development.
