Despite facing challenging times in Formula 1, Charles Leclerc remains confident in Frederic Vasseur’s ability to steer Ferrari back to the forefront of the competition
Charles Leclerc has once again expressed his unwavering trust in Scuderia Ferrari team boss, Frederic Vasseur, and pointed out the French manager’s most significant attribute as a leader.
The Maranello team had a promising start to the 2024 Formula 1 campaign, securing multiple podium finishes and clinching a victory at the Albert Park circuit in the Australian Grand Prix with Carlos Sainz in the third round of the championship. His Maranello teammate Charles Leclerc also triumphed, on the streets of Monte Carlo in the Monaco Grand Prix in front of his home fans, before the Maranello team experienced a downturn in performance as the season progressed.
Recently, the Monégasque driver returned to the podium in the last round ahead of the summer break, the Belgian Grand Prix, taking advantage of George Russell’s disqualification for underweight car as future Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton was promoted to winner. Despite the fact that Scuderia Ferrari currently seems to be positioned fourth in the pecking order, the Monegasque driver’s confidence in Frederic Vasseur remains strong.
“I’ve always said that I 200 per cent trust Fred,” Charles Leclerc replied when questioned by the media on this topic – “He has brought a new mentality to the team, where he’s taken care of every single individual within the team to try to put people in the best condition possible in order to extract their maximum potential. I think this is Fred’s biggest strength, as well as being super good at analysing critical situations.” – the Monegasque driver continued.
Scuderia Ferrari’s recent drop in standings comes amid a resurgence from rivals McLaren and Mercedes, who have recently intensified their challenge to Red Bull. Yet Charles Leclerc is confident that Frederic Vasseur will guide the Italian side back to the forefront of competition in the near future: “It’s very easy sometimes in Formula 1, when things are going very wrong to put everything in the same basket and say, ‘Oh, my God, everything we are doing is bad’. However, Fred has a super good analysis on that, to pinpoint and to give the right direction to the team in those critical moments. It’s super important. I’m sure that we’ll see the benefits of it very soon.” – the Monegasque driver concluded.
