During her appearance at last weekend’s British Grand Prix at the Silverstone circuit, Rwandan and Belgian racing driver and television presenter Naomi Schiff expressed her admiration for Scuderia Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur, describing him as one of her favorite personalities in Formula 1.
Fred Vasseur assumed leadership of Ferrari in the 2023 Formula One season, taking over from Mattia Binotto after a challenging period at the helm of the Maranello team. Far behind Red Bull and with a fierce competition from Aston Martin and Mercedes in the battle for second place in the constructor standings, the former Alfa Romeo boss has faced difficulties since joining the iconic Italian team. Although Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc currently hold fifth and sixth positions in the driver standings, Ferrari has shown promising progress in Canada and Austria, before facing another difficult weekend in the British Grand Prix.
During an interview with Sky Sports F1 lead commentator David Croft during Saturday’s broadcast, Naomi Schiff highlighted Frederic Vasseur’s composed and level-headed approach.
“Lovely personality,” Naomi Schiff pointed out. “I mean, Fred Vasseur is just an interesting character. He’s obviously got so much experience in the sport. I think he’s slowly but surely becoming one of my favourite characters.”
Naomi Schiff elaborated on her remarks, pointing out that Frederic Vasseur’s composed demeanor played a significant role in pacifying the media frenzy that frequently engulfs Ferrari: “He knows exactly how to spin the story for Ferrari in exactly the right way. He just seems to give his cool, calm head to that.”
