Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc commends Formula 1 film production starring Brad Pitt and Damson Idris for its “understanding” during British Grand Prix Weekend
At the Silverstone circuit, Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc expressed admiration for the production of the yet-to-be-titled F1 film, featuring Brad Pitt and Damson Idris, for their excellent cooperation. The filming of the Apple original film, helmed by Joe Kosinski of “Top Gun: Maverick” fame and executive produced by Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes, took place at Silverstone with the aim of achieving lifelike accuracy and authenticity.
To facilitate the project, Mercedes and junior team Carlin modified Formula 2 cars for use by the APX GP team, which took to the track during breaks between Formula 1 and support races. While the three APX GP cars designated for filming were stationed at the old pit buildings along the National pit straight, the fictional team was provided a fully equipped garage situated between Mercedes and Ferrari. This state-of-the-art setup drew envy from other teams and drivers.
On race day, APX GP lined up at the back of the grid but of course did not participate in the actual race. Meanwhile, Brad Pitt and Damson Idris, clad in fireproof overalls, attended the pre-race national anthem ceremony before continuing with filming at the back of the grid, which included a scene featuring Javier Bardem as the team manager.
Despite the potential for disruption to the paddock, the production proceeded smoothly, achieving an incredible outcome.

When questioned about receiving an explanation of the ongoing procedures directly from Pitt, Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc responded to the media: “Just the outline of how the film is going to look, the technology they are using and all of this. It is a really nice approach, they have really understood that we have a got a job to do, which is to drive on track, and they have got a job to do and they don’t to be in the way, which is great. So I am pretty sure it is transparent for us and that there will be an incredible result for the movie.” – he pointed out.
