As we enter the months of August and September, the atmosphere in the paddock heats up due to driver market movements. Many announcements are typically made in the weeks surrounding the Monza and Spa Francorchamps weekends. However, so far, there aren’t too many rumors about potential changes, as a significant portion of the grid has biennial contracts that will extend until 2025. Barring any major shake-ups, among the top teams, the only uncertainties are around Lewis Hamilton and Sergio Perez: the former because, despite expressing his desire, hasn’t yet signed a renewal, and the latter because he’s driving far below expectations, and it’s not certain whether Red Bull wants to retain him in their garage.
In the latest Motorsport.it video, motorsport journalist Roberto Chinchero warned fans to prepare for some changes in terms of driver line up, but mainly among the teams at the back of the grid. “There may be movements possibly at Alfa Romeo, while we’re also waiting to know the definitive lineup for Alphatauri next year, and maybe even at Williams. Everything hinges on Sergio Perez’s confirmation. The Mexican has a contract, but we know that guarantees earnings, not necessarily driving the car. If he’s confirmed, I’m not sure what will happen in the Faenza team. But it might also depend on a personal choice by Daniel Ricciardo, whether he wants to stay or not,” the journalist stated, while remaining cautious in his statements.
In these changes, there’s also the prospect of a possible newcomer to the paddock, as mentioned by Roberto Chinchero himself, though he didn’t reveal the name: “I believe we will have a debutant in the championship next year. Not necessarily a driver coming from the lower formulae. Maybe it’s someone who is already associated with Formula 1. I don’t want to provide more information because I need to verify some positions. This year’s market is restrained, though I think negotiations for some top team contracts will begin in the fall.” – the motorsport journalist concluded.
