Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton are paying tribute to Niki Lauda during the Italian Grand Prix weekend at Monza. The two Scuderia Ferrari drivers will wear highly special helmets while driving the SF-25, fully adorned in a 312T livery, the very car with which Lauda won his first world championship at Monza.
The Italian Grand Prix this year is a celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of Niki Lauda’s first world title at the Monza circuit with Ferrari. The Scuderia also wants to celebrate with fans despite a season that has fallen short of expectations. A special fan event is scheduled for Wednesday, September 3, in Milan at 19:30, where the “marea rossa” will meet both drivers. Ferrari has also revealed the full collection of special merchandise in blue and red which you can buy here, along with the SF-25’s commemorative livery. Now it’s the turn of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton’s helmets to honor Niki Lauda.
All yellow for Lewis Hamilton, all red for Charles Leclerc
Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton chose to honor his mentor with a completely yellow helmet, accented with touches of white. The inscription “Niki Lauda” emphasizes the bond between the two. Hamilton’s design maintains the color scheme from his original helmet earlier this season, creating a stunning stylistic tribute. Charles Leclerc, meanwhile, opted for a clear homage to Lauda’s Ferrari-era helmet, using red as the dominant color. The number 16 and the Italian tricolor flag appear on the back of the helmet, perfectly matching the special livery and race suit to be worn at Monza.
