“In 2023 Ferrari will be much closer to us” – this is the view of Red Bull Racing Dutch driver Max Verstappen, who during a recent interview made it known what he thinks of Scuderia Ferrari and the 2023 Formula One season.
In fact, the two-time F1 world champion believes that this year the Maranello team will be able to achieve good results and could be very close to Red Bull. A hypothesis, which if it comes true, would be a victory for Ferrari, after the considerable efforts of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, who had high hopes hopes of challenging for the title in 2022, a championship that has been missing in Maranello since 2008.
The Dutchman’s recent comments, therefore provide hope ahead of the 2023 Formula 1 season, the first year with Frederic Vasseur in charge of Scuderia Ferrari, as the French manager replaced Mattia Binotto at the end of 2022. If things don’t go as anticipated by the driver of the Austrian team again this year, in fact, it would be yet another setback for the Maranello team, the umpteenth year without a championship.
Here’s what Max Verstappen said during the interview:

“If I look back at the 2022 Formula 1 season, I expected Ferrari to be in the fight for the title. Also, over the course of the season, I’m pretty sure the gap was never really in fact that big. There weren’t many weekends where, in fact, we were the dominant ones. We usually won, but we didn’t completely dominate. In general, in any case, I am satisfied with the season that Red Bull has had. Especially if I compare it to 2021, which to be honest hasn’t been a happy year for me. In fact, I didn’t like the fights I had, unlike this season, which was much better from this point of view. Furthermore, next year I think we will all be closer. I am sure that in 2023, in fact, Ferrari and Mercedes will not suffer from the issues we saw last year or at least they will do it less. We will fight and we will find ourselves challenging each other to win the title.” – the 2021 and 2022 Formula 1 world champion concluded.
