After the last Formula 1 race held in Mexico, media attention has turned to Oliver Bearman, and the rumors about a possible move to Ferrari are gaining strength.
In Mexico, Oliver Bearman delivered a flawless race, without mistakes, achieving his best career result by finishing in fourth place. The Haas driver has shown, in his first F1 season, that he can fight with the most experienced drivers on the grid. A performance that certainly did not go unnoticed and has fueled speculation about Oliver Bearman’s future in Formula 1 and his potential move to Ferrari.
During the latest episode of the podcast The F1 Show, Martin Brundle and Jacques Villeneuve shared their opinions on the young Haas driver.
Future with Ferrari?
Martin Brundle was impressed by Oliver Bearman’s performance in Mexico and admitted: “Absolutely extraordinary. If you give that young man an opportunity, he will seize it immediately – just like he did in Saudi Arabia with Ferrari. He stayed calm under pressure, especially in the final stages with Oscar Piastri’s McLaren right behind him. He overtook Max Verstappen and made the move stick, without going off track with all four wheels, just barely.”
Based on what Ollie Bearman showed last year and after the Mexican race, Brundle has no doubts: “The moment a seat becomes available at Ferrari, for any reason, in my opinion it should go to Bearman. I find him extraordinary, he’s learning fast and making the most of his opportunity.”
Former driver Jacques Villeneuve, who also spoke on the latest episode of the podcast, said he is a big admirer of Oliver Bearman: “He had a good start, then a small dip, and from there he began rebuilding himself. It’s always great to see a driver come back stronger than before: he analyzes, studies, works with the team, and finds the solution. That’s what he’s doing.”
Villeneuve added: “He’s the kind of driver who seems to perform better under pressure, better in top teams, better in the highest category. Now he’s stronger than he was when he raced in the junior series, and that’s really important.”
