For fans of both Juventus and Ferrari, this is certainly not an easy period, as both teams managed by John Elkann are going through a season full of difficulties. The Old Lady is in the midst of yet another coaching change, the third in the last year and a half, while the Maranello-based team is struggling with an SF-25 that has fallen far short of pre-season expectations.
In both cases, the target of criticism has been the ownership, which, in fact, is the same. After Andrea Agnelli’s departure following the investigations involving Juventus, control passed into the hands of his cousin John, who has long been at the helm of the Prancing Horse as well.
A shared problem
Despite this, results continue to be lacking in both cases. In Turin, the club has not celebrated a Serie A title for five seasons, while in Maranello the drought has lasted a full eighteen years. So what exactly is going wrong? Journalist Umberto Zapelloni, who has always followed both sides closely, tried to explain: “I can’t understand how a club like Juventus needs five days to find a coach. The problem with the Old Lady lies in the ownership. If trust doesn’t come from above toward the coaches you choose, then it’s impossible to achieve results. The same thing happens at Ferrari. The problem starts from the management, which chose Tudor only because it failed to secure other profiles. And the team suffers because of that. But these are the same mistakes being made with the other jewel of the family, Ferrari,” said Zapelloni during an appearance on the TV program Pressing.
The reference clearly alludes to the rumors of recent months suggesting a possible departure of Fred Vasseur. The Team Principal has since renewed his contract, with John Elkann recently reaffirming his full confidence in the former Alfa Romeo boss.
