The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Barcelona hosts three days of running in Spain, providing Scuderia Ferrari with an opportunity to learn all about the brand-new F1-75 ahead of the Formula One season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix on March 20.
The Maranello team started the testing session with a positive Wednesday and will now be looking to build on the solid start at the Spanish track.

That’s the morning session over and it’s a McLaren at the top of the timesheet once more.
Daniel Ricciardo finishing ahead of the Ferrari of Carlos Sainz and the AlphaTauri of Pierre Gasly.
13:53
Mercedes confirm they are done for the morning
13:46
Ricciardo goes fastest
Much like yesterday, a McLaren goes to the top spot late in the session, as Daniel Ricciardo betters Carlos Sainz with a 1:20.355.
13:42
Cause of Sergio Perez’s problem
Red Bull have confirmed that a gearbox issue was the cause of their stoppage, with the car coming to a halt in the final sector.
13:38
No apparent damage to Red Bull
It appears to be a technical issue that has caused the Red Bull to stop at turn 13, with no visible damage having been done to the car.
That’s the first red flag we’ve had in almost three complete sessions – not bad going.
13:25
Red flag
The session has been red flagged, due to an incident for Sergio Perez.
13:20
Alfa still struggling to get mileage
We mentioned not too long ago that Haas were having an improved Day Two – but that can’t really be said about the other Ferrari-powered team who struggled yesterday, Alfa Romeo.
New signing Valtteri Bottas has managed just 12 laps this morning, bringing the team’s total to 44 for the test. Many drivers have managed more than that this morning alone.
13:11
Gasly closes in
The Frenchman now moves down to a 1:21.1 in the AlphaTauri, a personal best but still more than half a second off Carlos Sainz.
13:08
As Carlos roars down the main straight yet again, the sun finally rises high enough in the sky to bathe the pit lane in light at long last. The Spaniard is leading the timing sheets and the lap counter, and especially compared to testing a couple of years back, this is a much better showing by Ferrari.
12:59
Good progress for Ferrari
The lap count is steadily going upwards for Carlos Sainz – he’s now on 56 with a fastest lap of 1min 20.546sec.
12:45
Mick on track
Further up the standings, Mick Schumacher has moved his Haas up to P5.
12:40
Ferrari remains on top
Still quiet out on track, and Carlos Sainz remains at the top of the timesheets with that earlier lap of 1:20.546.
12:23
Improvement for Ricciardo
Now Ricciardo beats his own time, setting a lap of 1:21.775 on the Hard tyres.
12:10
Mick Schumacher and Carlos Sainz setting laps
The Ferrari junior sets his best time yet of 1:22.535, which will surely make the Haas team happy.
Meanwhile Carlos goes purple in sectors one, two and three, giving him a new fastest time of 1:20.546.
12:06
Timesheet update

Carlos Sainz improves, Gasly goes second
Carlos Sainz becomes the first driver under 1 minute, 21 seconds today, as he extends his advantage at the top of the timesheet.
Pierre Gasly has moved into second with a 1:21.466 in his AlphaTauri.
11:32
Hamilton returns after following Perez
After following Perez on track just a few seconds behind, Hamilton returns to the pit lane.
11:24
Sergio Perez on the board
Sergio Perez is now on the board. He’s recorded a 1:23.417 to go above Mick Schumacher and into sixth.
It’s still Carlos Sainz at the top of the standings for Ferrari, more than half a second clear of second-placed Alex Albon.
11:12
Albon climbs up
Alex Albon is now second fastest, going purple in Sector 1 to set a 1min 21.657sec, on the C4.
He’s clocked 14 laps so far.
11:02
Top three after one hour
Carlos Sainz has now been setting some faster times as the track develops. Top three are:
Sainz: 1min 20.010sec
Ricciardo: 1min 22.575sec
Stroll: 1min 22.620sec
10:56
It’s an aero rake kind of morning
Ah, the familiar site of Formula 1 cars donned with aero rakes at testing…
10:52
Carlos continues on track
Back to the action, and Carlos Sainz has put seven laps in on this run with the Mediums. Ricciardo and Mick Schumacher are also out on track, with both using the Hard compound.
10:48
Carlos on top
Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz now sets a lap of 1:21.010, toppling Lance Stroll and Aston Martin at the top of the timesheets. The F1-75 of Carlos is running the Medium tyres.
10:42
More laps for Ocon
Ocon is now 10 laps in to this stint, and has been lapping in the 1:23s and 1:24s.
Elsewhere, Bottas has finally emerged for his first lap. Alfa Romeo struggled to get mileage in yesterday.
10:24
Frustrating opening day for Bottas at Alfa Romeo
It wasn’t an ideal opening day for Valtteri Bottas in his first outing for Alfa Romeo.
The car – in camouflage for testing ahead of its official launch on Sunday – was able to complete just a combined 32 laps in the hands of Bottas and reserve driver Robert Kubica.
10:19
Alpine running the aero rakes
A nice visual explainer here from Alpine on the metal contraptions you may notice on the cars throughout the week.
10:06
Carlos Sainz out first for Ferrari
The only driver line-up we were unable to bring you before has been confirmed.
Carlos Sainz will drive the morning session for Ferrari, with Charles Leclerc taking over this afternoon.
10:03
Rake out
The Ferarri looking very rakey out there. As is the McLaren.
10:00
Day Two underway in Barcelona
And just like that, day two is underway in Barcelona.
There were some serious lap totals logged on Wednesday and Ferrari will now look to continue the running in Barcelona
9:45
It was a strong start to pre-season testing for Scuderia Ferrari yesterday. Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz are keeping their feet on the ground, though, despite feeling encouraged by their lap times. Read more here
