It was an aero rake kind of morning for Scuderia Ferrari and most of the teams in the second day of pre-season testing in Barcelona. The familiar site of Formula 1 cars donned with aero rakes is a normal view in this stage of the season and the Maranello team continued getting to grips with the all-new aerodynamics on these cars.
Scuderia Ferrari also performed rear wing flow viz tests during the morning session at the Circuit de Catalunya. In the images below we can notice the way that the air is moving from the front to the back of the top wing.

As Carlos Sainz roared down the main straight in the final stages of the morning session, the sun finally rised high enough in the sky to bathe the pit lane in light at long last. The Spaniard ended the session leading the timing sheets and the lap counter, and especially compared to testing a couple of years back, this is a much better showing by the Maranello team.
Carlos Sainz spent most of the morning session on top of the standings, but eventually Daniel Ricciardo finishing ahead of the F1-75 car of Carlos and the AlphaTauri of Pierre Gasly. McLaren was therefor on top of the timesheet once more. The best lap time of the Spanish driver was a 1m20.546, set on the C3 tyre, while Daniel Ricciardo was two tenths faster thanks to a lap set in the final stages of the morning session. Gasly clocked the third fastest time of 1:20.764.
The forecast of bad weather on the final day of testing in Barcelona tomorrow, could lead to teams attempting quicker “performance” runs this afternoon, when the temperatures will continue to rise, with the air temperature now 16.3 degrees and track temperature at 24.6 degrees.
