Lewis Hamilton was disappointed, angry, and probably frustrated after the FP2 session on Friday in Saudi Arabia: the Ferrari driver headed to Ferrari’s hospitality without even removing his helmet. A picture is worth a thousand words: it wasn’t an easy Friday for Lewis Hamilton, who finished only thirteenth in FP2 with his Ferrari. Meanwhile, teammate Charles Leclerc appeared much more comfortable, securing the fourth fastest time. In contrast, the seven-time world champion is still struggling to find his rhythm.
The Briton finished over a second behind the leader of the second practice session, Lando Norris. Using soft tires, #44 struggled to find the right pace. After FP2, Hamilton was spotted leaving Ferrari’s pit garage and heading straight to hospitality without even taking off his helmet.
It was a understandable image, one that reflected his state of mind: anger, frustration, and disappointment. In the video, which we share at the end of the article, the former Mercedes driver stopped only to sign a cap for a fan before heading into hospitality.
A tough Friday for the British driver
In post-session interviews, Lewis Hamilton admitted with great resignation that he hoped to at least finish the weekend in the points. “Today didn’t go as planned. I think it was really tough for me to get the tires working,” he said.
“We simply struggled to get them to work properly. Usually, I’m always behind on Saturday. But this time, I can’t go any further back from where I am now,” he commented sarcastically.
Hamilton highlighted that he struggled to find the right feeling with the soft tires and hopes improvements will be made ahead of Saturday’s qualifying. At Ferrari, two different setups were tested on both cars, as #44 explained, in an attempt to find a better solution.
However, Lewis Hamilton remains realistic, and the main goal is to secure at least the minimum in qualifying. “I’m just trying to see if I can make it into the top 10 right now,” he concluded.
