Ferrari approaches the Mexican Grand Prix with optimism and clear intentions, as revealed by Lewis Hamilton. The weekend in Texas ended positively for the two Scuderia Ferrari drivers. Mercedes appeared to struggle slightly, allowing the Maranello team to gain valuable points in the standings. Now, Lewis Hamilton is already focused on Mexico, with Ferrari’s goal clearly defined for the upcoming round.
Despite a tense finish, the British driver crossed the line in fourth place at the Circuit of the Americas, just behind Charles Leclerc. His connection with the SF-25 continues to improve, and all that is missing now is a podium to confirm the team’s upward trend since the summer break.
The focus on performance
Hamilton spoke about the work that will be carried out with Ferrari before returning to the track in Mexico. The goal is to finally unlock the much-discussed potential of the SF-25. The seven-time world champion has often emphasized the importance of execution, something that team principal Frédéric Vasseur also frequently highlights. In Austin, Ferrari showed progress in that area, especially regarding qualifying timing and pit lane coordination.
“In the next few days, I’ll be fully immersed in understanding how to extract more performance and place the car in a slightly better position,” Hamilton told the media, including F1inGenerale, after the Austin race. “The team did a fantastic job overall.”
Preparing for Mexico
Hamilton made it clear that Ferrari’s current target is to finish ahead of Mercedes in the Constructors’ Championship. The battle remains intense, especially with Red Bull currently performing at an exceptional level. However, heading into the next circuit, there is a growing sense that the SF-25 could deliver an even stronger result than it did in Texas.
“Mercedes won two races ago, and this weekend they were behind us. It’s really hard to understand the reasons for these constant changes,” Hamilton added. “But we’re genuinely hopeful that our car will be stronger next weekend.”
