“I received so many messages of affection,” Lewis Hamilton explained during media day. “I was genuinely surprised to see how many people around the world were touched by Roscoe. It was moving to read all those messages, even if I couldn’t reply to everyone. Roscoe was the most important being in my life and letting him go was an incredibly tough experience. Anyone who has ever gone through the loss of a pet knows how much love they are able to give.”
Hamilton in Singapore remembering Roscoe
Despite the emotion, Hamilton is now trying to shift the focus to what awaits him in Singapore. “Now I just want to get back in the car and do what I love most,” he said. “It will be my first time driving a Ferrari on this track. In Baku the car performed really well at times, even though we couldn’t keep the same level across the entire weekend. We understood the reasons, and I think we’ll arrive here with a better approach.”
The British driver admitted he has not been able to work as closely with the team as he would have liked in recent weeks due to this difficult personal period. “Even so, I know the team has been working very hard in Maranello, and in the last few days I’ve tried to recover the time lost. I’m confident we can be competitive, even if we still don’t know how strong the others will be.”
A fierce battle expected under the lights
Looking at the competition, Hamilton expects a very close fight. “I am convinced that McLaren, Red Bull and Mercedes will be very strong here as well. We have an intense challenge ahead and still a lot of work to do.” The Marina Bay lights will therefore welcome a determined Hamilton, eager to turn his pain into positive energy and deliver a strong result for Ferrari.
