Lewis Hamilton prepares for his first Italian Grand Prix at Monza as a Ferrari driver
The British driver will face a five-place grid penalty at the start of the Italian Grand Prix.
Lewis ready for his first Monza race with Ferrari
“I will give everything.” That was the promise, spoken in Italian, from Lewis Hamilton to the fans who crowded around the Palazzo Reale in Milan. The Ferrari driver is preparing for his highly anticipated debut at Monza in red, a race he knows very well and has already won five times in his career. His most recent triumph came in 2018, a season that featured a dramatic title battle against then-Ferrari star Sebastian Vettel.
“Being a Ferrari driver is the most special thing ever,” Lewis Hamilton told Sky. “Seeing that sea of red beneath the podium is truly incredible, just as incredible as this square here in Milan. At Monza we race with the lowest possible aerodynamic load, and it feels like dancing on tiptoes. Through Ascari, the sensation is like floating.” – the British driver pointed out.
A grid penalty challenge for Lewis Hamilton
Lewis Hamilton will drop five positions on the starting grid after receiving a penalty for failing to respect double yellow flags before the start of the Dutch Grand Prix. Despite this setback, the seven-time Formula 1 world champion insisted he remains motivated and optimistic.
“This is not the season we expected, but we must stay confident,” Lewis Hamilton explained in an interview with Sportmediaset. “We need patience and we must keep working to build and strengthen our relationship. Trust is fundamental. I say to the fans: keep believing, it will take more time, but the only way to get out of this situation is by staying positive.”
