Charles Leclerc arrives at Monza aiming for a third career win at Ferrari’s home Grand Prix
The Ferrari driver has already won at Monza in 2019 and in 2024.
The Monegasque driver chases a third win
Charles Leclerc and Ferrari have not yet secured a victory in the 2025 Formula 1 season, and the Italian Grand Prix at Monza represents a golden opportunity to finally erase that zero in the win column. The Monegasque driver triumphed on Ferrari’s home soil in 2019 and repeated the feat in 2024, surprising many by completing one fewer pit stop than the McLaren of Oscar Piastri, who until that point had seemed fully in control of the race.
“I discovered that in Italian, just like in French, people say ‘there’s no two without three’ and I hope that the third win can come this year,” Charles Leclerc told Sky microphones during a Ferrari event at the Palazzo Reale in Milan. “We will give 2000% to try and repay the incredible passion that this amazing crowd gives us every single year.”
A tough lead-up to Monza
Charles Leclerc arrives at Monza after a frustrating retirement at Zandvoort, where contact with Andrea Kimi Antonelli forced him out of the race. Earlier in that same Grand Prix, the Ferrari driver had managed to overtake George Russell with a daring move on the limit, which was reviewed but not sanctioned by the race stewards.
“Did I watch that overtake again? My Instagram feed is filled only with that move,” Leclerc admitted. “I was angry for losing position because of bad luck, and since we know Mercedes will be our direct rival for second place in the Constructors’ Championship, I had some extra motivation. Instinct guided me.”
