Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur analyzed the SF-25 project
The Ferrari team principal reviewed the performance of the car that has raced this season.
Chasing victory
Both Ferrari fans and the team itself had hoped to see a continuation of the thrilling battles from the end of 2024 against McLaren, Red Bull, and Mercedes. However, the squad led by Zak Brown and Andrea Stella has taken a decisive step forward, with McLaren cars dominating much of the championship and leaving only scraps for their rivals.
On the eve of the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, Ferrari holds second place in the Constructors’ standings but has managed just one pole position and is still waiting for its first win of 2025. To find the last Ferrari victory, one must go back to October 27, 2024, when Carlos Sainz triumphed, a staggering 19 races ago.
An imperfect project
Speaking on Formula 1’s official podcast Beyond The Grid, Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur shared his thoughts on the SF-25. “What is my biggest frustration regarding the SF-25? McLaren. Of course, we’ve had some problems on our side, and I prefer to keep them to myself. If we had to restart the season, we would probably take a slightly different approach, but I don’t feel we have made any big mistakes. We are ahead of Mercedes and Red Bull, who were the benchmark teams of the past decade. It’s not that we’ve done something stupid, but McLaren has simply been exceptional.” – the French manager concluded.
