Lewis Hamilton urges Ferrari to capitalise on opportunities to secure second in the constructors’ championship
Lewis Hamilton has stressed that Ferrari must improve at seizing crucial moments if it wants to salvage its 2025 Formula 1 season and secure a second-place finish in the constructors’ championship.
While the season has been challenging for the Scuderia, there have been brief flashes of competitiveness. Highlights included Hamilton’s sprint victory at the Chinese Grand Prix and his fastest lap in FP2 in Azerbaijan, although both weekends ultimately slipped away due to strategic or technical issues.
With the team already looking ahead to the 2026 season and the significant rule changes on the horizon, recent races in Austin have provided Ferrari with a morale boost. The Maranello team has closed the gap to Mercedes, now just seven points ahead as the focus shifts to the Mexican Grand Prix weekend, while Red Bull remains in contention, intensifying the battle for the runners-up spot.
Lewis Hamilton believes that if Ferrari wants to finish second in the constructors’ standings, it must consistently capitalise on weekends when the SF-25 shows strong performance. The seven-time world champion highlighted the importance of turning promising moments into tangible results.
In a pre-race interview with media outlets, including ScuderiaFans.com, the British driver explained that the remaining races are an opportunity for continued development and learning. He emphasised that recent races offered “gems” that Ferrari failed to fully exploit, and that the focus now is on refining processes and maximising performance.
The seven-time Formula 1 world champion added that the team must build on communication and collaboration, both at the track and back at the Maranello factory, to extract every possible point from each weekend. Lewis Hamilton stressed that every member of the team deserves strong results, and the collective goal is to optimise every opportunity presented by the car.
“The objective is to focus on what works and improve what doesn’t,” Lewis Hamilton noted. “By staying disciplined and concentrating on every detail, I believe Ferrari can make the most of the final races and push for a solid finish in the championship.”
This approach, Lewis Hamilton explained, will be key as Ferrari continues to navigate a challenging season while preparing for the potential opportunities and strategic adjustments of 2026.
