Lewis Hamilton asks Ferrari fans for patience: “Even Rome wasn’t built in a day, it takes time”. Lewis Hamilton has asked Ferrari fans for patience.

Lewis Hamilton, Ferrari 2025 F1

On the eve of the Mexican Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton opened up about his approach to life inside Ferrari, asking for patience as he and the team continue to work toward consistent improvements. The British driver will have to watch the first free practice session from the garage, as his SF-25 will be driven by Antonio Fuoco. Therefore, Hamilton will have to wait until Friday afternoon in Mexico City to personally evaluate the progress Ferrari has made since the previous round in Austin.

In Texas, Ferrari appeared to take a step forward compared to recent races, during which the Italian team had struggled to match its main rivals. The SF-25 showed solid pace, staying close to Lando Norris’s McLaren for much of the race, and eventually crossed the finish line ahead of current championship leader Oscar Piastri. The result gave Ferrari a boost in confidence, suggesting that its recent upgrades and setup adjustments are finally paying off.

Hamilton asks for time from Ferrari fans

For that reason, fans of the Prancing Horse are hoping for another strong weekend in Mexico, as Lewis Hamilton continues his pursuit of a first podium finish in red. The seven-time Formula 1 world champion, fully aware of the fans’ expectations, spoke on Thursday about his adaptation process and the patience required to bring Ferrari back to winning ways. “Even Rome wasn’t built in a day, so it takes time,” said car number 44, highlighting his realistic but optimistic outlook.

Lewis Hamilton explained that his first months at Ferrari have been focused on understanding the team’s working methods and showing full respect for the established processes. “I’ve joined a new team, and I wanted to respect the way things are done here,” he said. “I took my time to share with the engineers and team members what I believe were some of the weaknesses that needed to be addressed. I think we’ve made some progress in that direction, and it’s something everyone can now start to see. It will become even clearer with next year’s car.” – the British driver pointed out ahead of the Mexico City Grand Prix weekend.

His comments underline a patient yet determined approach as Ferrari continues its rebuilding phase. Lewis Hamilton’s collaboration with the Maranello engineers is proving vital, especially as the team aims to improve consistency and maximize its understanding of the SF-25’s balance across different track conditions. While results have not yet matched the team’s ambitions, the performance in Austin showed encouraging signs that the partnership between Hamilton and Ferrari is beginning to take shape.

The Mexican Grand Prix will therefore be another important test for the Scuderia, as the Maranello team seeks to confirm its progress and close the gap to McLaren and Red Bull. For Lewis Hamilton, who remains one of the most experienced and successful drivers in Formula 1 history, patience and steady evolution appear to be the key ingredients to turning Ferrari into a consistent front-runner once again.
