LEGO will honour Michael Schumacher during the 2026 Italian Grand Prix weekend with a huge 85,000-brick Ferrari F2004 mosaic in Milan, alongside light shows and Formula 1 activities for fans in both Milan and Monza. The centrepiece will celebrate 30 years since Michael Schumacher joined Ferrari in 1996, adding another tribute to the German legend during one of the most important weekends of the season for the Scuderia.
LEGO will be heavily involved throughout the Monza weekend, with activities aimed at the many Formula 1 and LEGO fans expected around the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, in the centre of Monza and in Milan. Interest in Ferrari’s home event is already exceptionally high, with Sunday at the 2026 Italian Grand Prix sold out.
LEGO Michael Schumacher tribute features 85,000-brick Ferrari F2004 mosaic
The main attraction will be located at the Arco della Pace in Milan, where LEGO is inviting supporters to help create a collective construction celebrating Michael Schumacher and the 30th anniversary of his arrival at Ferrari. The milestone dates back to 1996, a season the Maranello team is also preparing to commemorate through a special Michael Schumacher-inspired Ferrari livery at Monza.
From Thursday 3 September until Sunday 6 September, Piazza Sempione will become a large open-air play area. Fans will be able to work alongside creator Riccardo Zangelmi to assemble an enormous mosaic measuring three metres by 1.8 metres and containing approximately 85,000 LEGO bricks.
The artwork will be dedicated to the recently released LEGO Icons Ferrari F2004 and Michael Schumacher set, celebrating one of the most iconic and dominant Formula 1 cars driven by the German champion. The Ferrari F2004 was also the car associated with Michael Schumacher’s seventh and final Formula 1 World Championship.
Video and light show to celebrate Michael Schumacher and Ferrari F2004
The construction of the mosaic will be accompanied by a video and light show dedicated to Michael Schumacher and the Ferrari F2004. The Milan installation will officially open with a free event on Thursday 3 September at 19:30 at the Arco della Pace.
DJ Linus will take part in the opening alongside Sky journalist and Formula 1 commentator Carlo Vanzini, with the event open to both dedicated motorsport fans and visitors simply curious to experience the attraction.
The play area will be open from 16:00 to 19:00 on Thursday and Friday, before extending its hours from 10:00 to 19:00 on Saturday and Sunday. The Michael Schumacher video and light show will then run every half-hour between 19:00 and 22:00 each evening.
Home of LEGO F1 returns to the Monza Fan Zone
As in previous seasons, LEGO will also have a dedicated presence inside the Autodromo Nazionale Monza Fan Zone. The Home of LEGO F1 will feature a multi-stage experience for supporters attending the Italian Grand Prix.
Among the displays will be the front wing and steering wheel from one of the brick-built Formula 1 cars used during the memorable drivers’ parade at the 2025 Miami Grand Prix. Visitors will also be able to step inside two giant LEGO helmets and personalise an F1 team Minifigure.
The activities will add another element to a packed Ferrari home weekend, with the Italian Grand Prix forming a key part of the 2026 Formula 1 calendar.
Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton LEGO helmets displayed in Monza
LEGO will also be present in the centre of Monza as part of the FuoriGP celebrations. At the Palazzo dell’Arengario in Piazza Roma, two separate areas will be created for Formula 1 fans of all ages.
The Monza venue will be open from 18:00 to 20:00 on Thursday 3 September and from 10:00 to 20:00 on Friday 4, Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September.
One of the attractions will feature LEGO Editions sets representing the helmets of Ferrari Formula 1 drivers Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton. Play tables filled with LEGO bricks will also be available, giving younger visitors their own opportunity to take part in the Italian Grand Prix celebrations.
