LEGO will bring a series of Formula 1-themed events to Milan and Monza from 3 to 6 September as excitement builds towards the 2026 Italian Grand Prix at Monza. The programme will include free activities for families and motorsport fans of all ages, with Michael Schumacher and his legendary Ferrari F2004 among the central attractions.
Three main locations will host the initiatives: Piazza Sempione in Milan, the Fan Zone inside the Autodromo Nazionale Monza and the Palazzo dell’Arengario in central Monza as part of the traditional Monza FuoriGP celebrations. The programme combines interactive LEGO building, Formula 1 displays and a special tribute marking 30 years since Michael Schumacher joined Ferrari.
LEGO celebrates Michael Schumacher and Ferrari F2004 in Milan
The centrepiece of the initiative will be staged at Piazza Sempione in Milan. From Thursday 3 September until Sunday 6 September, LEGO will invite residents and Formula 1 fans to a special event celebrating the 30th anniversary of Michael Schumacher’s arrival at Ferrari. The event is being organised with the patronage of the Municipality of Milan.
At the Arco della Pace, three large scenic installations shaped like LEGO bricks will host a video and light show dedicated to the LEGO Icons Ferrari F2004 and Michael Schumacher set, a recreation of the legendary Formula 1 car with which the German driver wrote one of the most successful chapters in Ferrari history.
The opening evening will take place on Thursday 3 September at 19:30 and will be hosted by Linus, long-time Radio Deejay presenter and artistic director, alongside Sky Sport F1 commentator Carlo Vanzini.
The timing gives the celebrations particular significance for Ferrari supporters, with the Scuderia also preparing to mark three decades since the start of Michael Schumacher’s Maranello career during its home Grand Prix. Ferrari is expected to continue that tribute on track with a special Michael Schumacher-inspired SF-26 livery at Monza.
Fans can help build an 85,000-brick Michael Schumacher mosaic
Piazza Sempione will also become a large interactive play area. Visitors will be invited to build their own LEGO tile, which will become part of a mosaic designed by Riccardo Zangelmi, Italy’s only LEGO Certified Professional. The artwork will also be dedicated to the LEGO Icons Ferrari F2004 and Michael Schumacher set.
The completed collaborative mosaic will measure three metres by 1.8 metres and will be made from almost 85,000 bricks in 22 different colours. The concept is intended to turn into a physical activity the same philosophy associated with Michael Schumacher’s career: consistency, discipline and the belief that even the most ambitious goals are achieved one piece at a time.
The play area will be open on 3 and 4 September from 16:00 to 19:00, while on 5 and 6 September it will operate from 10:00 to 19:00. Access to all activities in Piazza Sempione will be free.
The Home of LEGO F1 returns to the Monza Fan Zone
The LEGO Group will also return to Formula 1’s Temple of Speed with The Home of LEGO F1, a dedicated area inside the Monza circuit Fan Zone designed to showcase the partnership between LEGO and Formula 1.
The experience will be divided into several stages. The first will be a workshop where fans can take a close look at the front wing and steering wheel from one of the LEGO F1 Big Builds. The full-size 1:1 LEGO Formula 1 cars became one of the most memorable elements of the drivers’ parade at the 2025 Miami Grand Prix.
Visitors will then move into an immersive area featuring two giant helmets that they will be able to step inside, discovering additional details and curiosities connected with the LEGO Formula 1 world.
The third stop will focus on creativity. Fans will be able to design their own digital F1 Team Minifigure, personalise it and then have it printed on an exclusive Team Pass. The full range of LEGO Formula 1 products will also be available to purchase alongside the experience.
The activities will add another attraction to a Monza weekend for which demand is already extremely high. Sunday tickets for the 2026 Italian Grand Prix have sold out, underlining the level of interest surrounding Ferrari’s home race and the return of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton to the Temple of Speed. 0
LEGO F1 activities and Ferrari driver helmets at Monza’s Arengario
A further part of the LEGO Formula 1 programme will be hosted at Palazzo dell’Arengario in Piazza Roma, in the centre of Monza. Two areas will be dedicated to families and fans of motorsport and speed.
The first will feature play tables, LEGO bricks and Formula 1-themed photo opportunities for children and parents. The second will showcase LEGO Editions sets representing the helmets of Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton.
Admission will again be free. The Arengario area will be open on Thursday 3 September from 18:00 to 20:00 and from Friday 4 September through Sunday 6 September from 10:00 to 20:00.
LEGO Insiders experiences planned during the Italian GP weekend
The Formula 1 weekend will also provide an opportunity for visitors to discover LEGO Insiders, the company’s global loyalty programme, which has recently become available in LEGO Certified Stores. Dedicated experiences, special activities and exclusive benefits will be offered during the event.
Davide Cajani, Marketing Director of LEGO Italy, explained that the initiative had been conceived as a journey made up of several stages, reflecting the structure of a racing circuit.
“This activation fills us with pride and is designed as a journey made up of several stages, a real circuit with different pit stops,” Davide Cajani said. “Building is our way of never giving up: one piece at a time, with consistency, putting creativity and ingenuity into it, either alone, during a moment entirely for yourself, or together with others. It is the mantra that inspires every one of our fans whenever they open a LEGO box, with the same passion for motorsport that has always belonged to Italy and the same determination that can be felt on the track. That is why we invite everyone, adults and children alike, to come and play, build and experience a world made of speed, engines and fun.”
The LEGO programme will therefore stretch from central Milan to the heart of Monza and the Grand Prix circuit itself during one of Ferrari’s most important weekends of the 2026 Formula 1 season. Fans planning to follow the entire campaign can also consult the full 2026 Formula 1 calendar for the remaining races and dates. 1
