According to Brazilian journalist Mariana Becker, there have been discussions between Mercedes and Williams to carry out a move that would see the former Ferrari driver join Brackley and the Italian rookie alongside Alex Albon.
More precisely, according to this rumor, the teams are said to have spoken even on the day of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
It seems that Toto Wolff, Mercedes team principal, has denied all of this. However, it’s reasonable to think that there may be at least a slight possibility that Carlos Sainz, perhaps under certain conditions, could replace Antonelli behind the wheel of the Silver Arrows.
