The Las Vegas Grand Prix will remain on the Formula 1 calendar at least until 2027 thanks to a two-year extension of the agreement. Managed directly by F1, the event already has a ten-year commitment and a strong economic impact on the city, which aims to make it a permanent fixture on the championship calendar.
Compared to other Grands Prix, Las Vegas is an exception, as it is the only race on the calendar managed directly by Formula 1, unlike other rounds where a local organizing company liaises with the FOM.
For this reason, the GP does not have a traditional contract expiration, but the news is now official: the U.S. Grand Prix will stay on the calendar for at least two more seasons, following confirmation of the extension of the agreement with local authorities through the 2027 season.
From the initial announcement, the race was already essentially based on a ten-year commitment, confirming the strategic importance of the event, particularly for F1, which has a facility with part of its offices based in Las Vegas. However, it was clear that the impact and success of the race would first be evaluated through staggered “renewals.”
A ten-year deal managed directly by Formula 1 has nonetheless ensured a level of stability for the event, making major official announcements unnecessary, unlike other calendar rounds. The only potential resistance could come from the city itself, although the impact so far has been largely positive, with the exception of some complaints from establishments unhappy with the Strip‘s closure during race weekend and the days leading up to it.
Emily Prazer, president and CEO of the Las Vegas Grand Prix and also chief commercial officer of F1, confirmed that the event will continue through 2026 and 2027: “We have collectively agreed on a two-year extension for 2026 and 2027. The goal is to continue evolving the project, but the vision is clearly long-term. The race faced challenges, but we are now seeing results. We want to make sure it works for both parties.”
Steve Hill, president of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, also reiterated the intent to make the GP a permanent fixture on the calendar in the years ahead: “The duration of the extensions is a logical, incremental choice. We know what to expect in the coming years and will continue to plan further renewals. No other event has a comparable economic impact.”
