Carlos Sainz believes it: the Ferrari SF-23 car in Las Vegas can be very competitive. On the day dedicated to media interviews, the Spanish driver expressed confidence that the SF-23 could bring home a good result.
In this regard, Carlos Sainz spoke about the pace of the Ferrari at Monza and Singapore (where he won) as a benchmark. However, be attentive: for #55, there is a crucial point on which the Scuderia must focus if they want to have the perfect weekend.
“We have more hope than a short time ago, especially because the track seems probably a bit more suitable for us than the recent tracks,” Carlos told the media. “Long straights like at Monza and tight corners like at Monza or Singapore.”
While pointing out that some corners could be challenging for the Ferrari, Carlos Sainz remained hopeful for the weekend. The secret? Having “confidence in the brakes.”
This will be crucial to perform better in turns 6 and 7, where there are two points of combined braking. In the simulator, the Madrid native explained, the braking points were “difficult to navigate.”
“Besides that, it’s just about gaining confidence with a low aerodynamic load car. On such long straights with abrupt braking, the important thing is to get comfortable. That will be the key,” he concluded.
