Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc and Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton have expressed their opinions regarding the show organized by Formula 1 for the Las Vegas Grand Prix. Their comments are completely opposite to those of Max Verstappen.
Words from Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton:
The Monegasque driver stated: “It’s so [theatrical], but I think if you don’t do it here, you don’t do it anywhere. For me, the most important thing is that the DNA of this sport remains the same.”
“We also need to seize the opportunities offered by this type of event in such incredible cities and create something that attracts people who initially are not interested in racing but then, once they see the cars live, become interested in racing. Potentially, this could bring many more fans to this sport in the years to come. So, I think it’s fantastic what F1 has done so far,” the Ferrari man concluded.
Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton, on the other hand, affirmed: “I’ve heard a lot of people complain about the direction taken by Stefano [Domenicali, CEO of Formula 1] and Liberty. I disagree; they are doing an extraordinary job. [America] is a business, and here we will still see great races; it is a benchmark country for capturing the audience’s attention.” – he explained.

“We needed to have at least two races in the United States; one was not enough, and this is one of the most iconic and unique cities there is. It is certainly a great show, maybe it will never be like Silverstone, but probably over time, people in this community will learn to love this sport,” he added.
In summary, both Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton believe that Formula 1 is working correctly for the growth of the sport, contrary to Max Verstappen, who does not appreciate this kind of “show” initiative, being more traditionalist.
