Lapo Elkann, the brother of the Ferrari president, has conveyed his congratulations for Carlos Sainz Sr’s Dakar victory, along with a hopeful message for Maranello.
Lapo Elkann consistently lends his support to Ferrari and its two drivers, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. He has emphasized his fervent support for the Maranello team’s main duo on multiple occasions, showcasing his passion for racing by attending various competitions.
As the brother of the Ferrari president, Elkann also took part in the Dakar rally, won by Carlos Sainz Sr for the fourth time in his career. Once again, he did not shy away from praising the Spanish champion and his son, expressing his admiration for their victory in the Arabian desert.
“The Sainz family is incredible. They convey great strength. It struck me to see Carlos Sainz Jr applauding his father as soon as he reached the finish line. It may seem strange, but they are two high-level champions, and I hope that one day Carlos can become like his father. Irreplaceable. I wish it for him and I wish it for Ferrari; it would be a dream.”
In essence, Lapo Elkann’s comments echo those of Carlos Sainz Sr, who, in an interview given before winning the Dakar, expressed immense confidence in his son. According to the Spanish driver, Ferrari’s number 55 is an evolving talent who can bring significant surprises to the Maranello team. Moreover, he expressed strong confidence in the 676 project for the 2024 Formula 1 championship.
Lapo Elkann also touched on the possibility of his own Dakar career, recounting his wife’s championship victory in the competition. “My wife won the Dakar; I wouldn’t last a day. The energy is insane. Until my wife, I didn’t know this world, but now I can say it’s splendid,” – the brother of the Ferrari president concluded.
