Carlos Sainz Sr clinched his fourth Dakar Rally victory yesterday, further solidifying his status as a legend in this sport. His son commented on the win.

For the former World Rally Champion, it was his 17th participation in the race, where consistency, rather than pure speed, secured him the ultimate victory.

Ferrari driver’s comments
Carlos Sainz, currently a driver for Ferrari in Formula 1, commented on his father’s success: “He had to race a lot to win, but he was smarter than anyone else and managed the race as only he knows how. He has completed the smartest Dakar I have ever seen him do in my life. He managed the race perfectly and showed that he also has experience.” – the Ferrari driver pointed out.

“I asked him not to race [hard, ed.] every day because, in the end, the Dakar is an endurance race, and he likes to race a lot. The 2024 season has started well. Now we have to continue like this for the Sainz family! Here are all his best friends, not just me, and there are all the people who love and encourage him at every moment.”

“You cannot imagine the pride of a father, a husband, everything, because it was a very long and tough Dakar, with all kinds of terrain, stages, and even some new ones, like the 48-hour stage.” – the Ferrari man added.
