John Elkann explains Fred Vasseur’s renewal
Interviewed by Sky Sport just before the free practice sessions of the Hungarian Grand Prix, John Elkann spoke about the contract renewal signed by Fred Vasseur. “Fred has given so much and has allowed Ferrari to progress in these years. We finished second, very close to winning the constructors’ championship. Even this season we are second and it is important to strengthen the team while we are improving. The importance of continuing to work with Fred is exactly this, we want to continue progressing constantly. This is the spirit. It is not enough to give just stability, we also need that trust that pushes you to always give more,” declared the Ferrari chairman.
John Elkann then briefly commented on the first part of the season for the Maranello team, explaining what the goal must be for the future. “Undoubtedly the first part of the season has been complicated. What is important is trying to understand where we can improve. I am convinced that these lessons will be important for the whole team. At Ferrari it is not the individual who is decisive but everyone in their own way is extraordinary and only by working together can great things be achieved. We have demonstrated this throughout our history and also recently with victories like Le Mans. We must never lose the desire to win which must remain a constant and this constant must translate into making sure that all the people who work at Ferrari are aware of how well they can perform by working together.” – the Ferrari president concluded ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix.
