Ferrari chairman John Elkann addressed shareholders during today’s annual meeting in Amsterdam, offering his perspective on Scuderia Ferrari’s current trajectory and long-term ambitions in Formula 1 and beyond.
Ferrari shareholders’ meeting held in Amsterdam
Ferrari chairman John Elkann has long identified 2026 as the key year for the Scuderia’s return to the top of Formula 1. The recent investments and efforts made by the Maranello-based team — including the high-profile signing of Lewis Hamilton — have all been directed toward that objective. However, they have not yet been enough for Ferrari to begin the new technical cycle as the leading force on the grid.
At present, Mercedes has clearly emerged as the benchmark team, setting the pace in the early phase of the championship. Nevertheless, Ferrari has demonstrated solid consistency by securing podium finishes in every race so far. For this reason, Elkann remains optimistic about the current season, echoing the positive outlook also expressed by CEO Benedetto Vigna during the shareholders’ meeting held today in Amsterdam.
Elkann’s comments on Ferrari’s ambitions
“Ferrari knows that racing also means learning and progressing,” the Scuderia chairman stated. “After a Formula 1 season that fell short of our ambitions, in 2026 we entered a new championship with new regulations. We are doing so with unity and determination, fully focused on the work ahead of us to come back stronger.”
While the 2025 Formula 1 campaign proved disappointing — with zero race wins throughout the season — Ferrari enjoyed major success in the World Endurance Championship: “Our sporting spirit continues to grow. 2025 was a year of solid achievements and important new beginnings. We won both the constructors’ and drivers’ titles in Endurance. November 8 was a moment of pure joy for all of us and for fans around the world, 50 years after our last world title. It is the result of talent and teamwork at the end of a season in which the 499P secured its third consecutive victory at Le Mans, another extraordinary milestone in our history for which I am grateful to the entire team.”
During the shareholders’ meeting, Ferrari’s 2025 financial statements were approved, and all board members who stood for re-election were confirmed. John Elkann and Benedetto Vigna were re-elected as executive directors of Ferrari, while Piero Ferrari, Delphine Arnault, Francesca Bellettini, Eduardo H. Cue, Sergio Duca, John Galantic, Maria Patrizia Grieco, Michelangelo Volpi, and Tommaso Ghidini were re-elected as non-executive directors.
The leadership’s renewed mandate reflects a vote of confidence in Ferrari’s long-term vision across its diverse racing and commercial portfolios. By leveraging the momentum from their historic WEC triumphs, the Scuderia aims to channel that same championship-winning culture into their Formula 1 operations to ensure the SF-26 becomes a consistent winner on the global stage.
