Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna addressed shareholders during the company’s annual meeting, reflecting on Scuderia Ferrari’s start to the 2026 Formula 1 season and outlining the team’s ambitions under the new regulatory cycle.
Ferrari encouraged by solid start to 2026 season
Ferrari has begun the new Formula 1 regulatory era as the second-strongest team on the grid, currently trailing Mercedes in outright performance. With three podium finishes in the opening three Grands Prix — including Lewis Hamilton’s first podium for the Maranello-based team — the Scuderia has demonstrated consistency and reliability in the early stages of the championship.
However, despite this solid foundation, Ferrari is still missing the decisive step forward required to become a genuine title contender and a consistent threat to the Brackley-based outfit at the front of the field.
Speaking at today’s Ferrari shareholders’ meeting held in Amsterdam, CEO Benedetto Vigna pointed to what he described as “encouraging signs” emerging from the opening races of the season in Australia, China, and Japan.
Vigna’s comments on Ferrari’s progress
“With podium finishes in each of the first three race weekends, we are seeing the first encouraging signs of our work under the new regulations,” Benedetto Vigna stated.
“In the world of racing, our objective remains simple: we race to win,” he added. “We are expanding our competitive arena to the sea, while at the same time confirming our full commitment to the World Endurance Championship and Formula 1.”
This optimistic outlook from Benedetto Vigna reinforces Ferrari’s determination to translate early season podiums into consistent race victories as the 2026 season progresses. By aligning the company’s competitive spirit across both Formula 1 and the World Endurance Championship, Ferrari continues to build a solid foundation for long-term success on the global stage.
