European circuits hosting races this season over the summer started to welcome a high number of fans: after the Red Bull Ring in Austria, Silverstone was also allowed to host the British Grand Prix with fans.
The Italian Grand Prix organisers now hope to also be able to offer the public the possibility to watch the event live from the Monza stands.
Giuseppe Redaelli, the Autodromo di Monza President, explained: “We are waiting for an answer. If the stadiums open why can’t we too? I hope that the authorization from the Government will arrive. We cannot believe that an event as important as the Italian Formula 1 Grand Prix can take place without an audience while at the same time the stadiums are reopening, like we saw at the European Championship. We also have the example of Silverstone with over 100 thousand people, while we are still in total uncertainty. I hope to finally be able to start the presale of tickets in the next few hours as is happening with all other European circuits.” – Giuseppe Redaelli confirmed.
Angelo Sticchi Damiani, President of the Italian automobile club, said a few weeks ago that the plan is to have some full stands, solely consisting of vaccinated people, with those non-vaccinated able to watch in areas with 50% capacity: “We would like to fill the Monza racetrack to 70 or 80 percent,” he said on Rai Radio 1 – “We could set up no-Covid stands for vaccinated people and others for those who will swab [have COVID tests] with spacing and 50% of the capacity.” – Angelo Sticchi Damiani explained at that moment.
