A rough start for Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari, except for his victory in the Sprint Race in China. Rumors about his possible departure from Ferrari and Formula 1 in 2026 are starting to circulate in the paddock: is it true?
Lewis Hamilton’s adventure at Ferrari hasn’t started as hoped. After the first races of 2025, the seven-time world champion is struggling both in qualifying and during the race, 16 points behind his teammate Charles Leclerc and even behind Kimi Antonelli, his successor at Mercedes. Despite the victory in the Sprint in Shanghai giving hope for a potential turnaround, the adaptation problems with the SF-25 are becoming apparent. This situation has fueled some rumors from England, suggesting that Hamilton is already considering an early exit from his agreement with the Scuderia.
Lewis Hamilton responds: “I won’t give up”
Lewis Hamilton, for his part, sent a clear message to his fans during an event in London: “Please keep your fingers crossed. I won’t give up. We’ll continue to improve. Still we rise, right?”
Words that seem to indirectly deny rumors of a possible early split with Ferrari. Lewis knows that it will take time to make his new challenge in red work, and the first real test will be the Imola GP, where the Scuderia will introduce the first technical updates of 2025.
Further adding to the difficulties is the fact that, in Miami — due to the Sprint format — Ferrari will not bring updates to the car: “In Miami, we won’t have any updates; the updates will come in Imola,” confirmed Frederic Vasseur after Jeddah.
The French team principal then reiterated the need to remain calm and work methodically: “We’ve identified the areas to address. We continue with the same approach as last year, step by step.”
