After the rumors that surfaced on Tuesday, October 7, regarding growing tension within Ferrari, speculation is increasing about the possible future of Charles Leclerc. The team’s ongoing struggles in the current Formula 1 season have reportedly created a tense atmosphere in Maranello, especially between the drivers and engineers, with Leclerc at the center of the storm. Following his difficult weekend at the Singapore Grand Prix, the Monegasque driver did not hide his frustration when speaking to the media — an attitude that, according to several sources, was not particularly appreciated within the team.
Leclerc has repeatedly expressed his desire to continue racing for Ferrari, but his objective remains clear: to fight for the world championship. In recent seasons, however, the Scuderia has failed to provide him with a car capable of consistently challenging for victories. As patience begins to wear thin, many are wondering whether the 2026 regulation change could become the decisive turning point. If Ferrari fails to deliver a competitive car under the new rules, could Leclerc finally consider leaving Maranello?
Rumors suggest a replacement may already be lined up
In recent days, fresh reports from RMC Motori have reignited speculation about Charles Leclerc’s future. According to the outlet, Leclerc’s management team is exploring possible options for 2027, which may include moves to Aston Martin, Mercedes, or McLaren. For now, nothing has been officially confirmed, but some believe that Ferrari may already have a potential replacement in mind. The Swiss newspaper Blick claims that Oscar Piastri is “flirting” with the idea of joining Ferrari.
This isn’t the first time the Australian’s name has been linked to the Scuderia. Just days ago, RMC Motori cited a statement from Piastri’s manager, Mark Webber, which appeared to leave the door open to a potential move in 2027. Webber, who has maintained close ties with Ferrari’s management over the years, has been careful not to rule out any future possibilities for his driver.
The 2027 driver market remains uncertain
For now, the Formula 1 driver market appears to be on hold. Several drivers are still waiting to learn whether they’ll be retained by their teams for the coming seasons — including Yuki Tsunoda, Liam Lawson, and Franco Colapinto. Meanwhile, George Russell is still awaiting the official announcement of his contract renewal, though that seems to be only a matter of time.
