These have been very difficult days for Italy and especially for the Emilia Romagna region. The fact that the Imola Grand Prix cannot take place brings deep sadness to everyone’s hearts, but nothing compared to learning about the number of victims and the damage caused by this incredible wave of bad weather that has hit the Emilia Romagna region. It was right to cancel the event out of respect for what has happened.
Italy will remember the month of May 2023 as another ugly encounter between man and the devastating force of nature. As humans, we are accustomed to seeking someone to blame for everything that happens to us, especially in cases like these when we cannot pinpoint a single culprit. We can blame nature or accuse ourselves of mismanaging issues related to pollution. Think what you want, but whatever the reason, we are witnessing a climate change that is becoming increasingly brutal in many areas.
Formula 1 restarts… Heading to Monaco
While we tally the damages and seek ways to help the affected families in this dramatic situation, Formula 1 is slowly trying to restart. After spending two days away from the track, today, as reported by ‘SoyMotor.com’, mechanics, TV crews, and all personnel had the opportunity to return to the Imola circuit to begin dismantling all the equipment necessary for the proper conduct of the weekend, which had already been set up in the days prior to these extraordinary weather phenomena.
Resuming work today will not only allow the Formula 1 teams but also the Formula 2 and Formula 3 teams present at the track to head towards Monaco earlier and with relative calmness, where they will compete in the next round of the season from May 26th to 28th.
