‘I don’t see myself anywhere else than Ferrari in the long term’ – Carlos Sainz. Carlos on his future with Ferrari.

It is no mystery that Scuderia Ferrari has created a very good working partnership with Carlos Sainz in the Spanish driver’s debut season alongside the Maranello team. The Spaniard was able to adapt quickly to the new team and had a strong 2021 campaign, up to the point of scoring four podium finishes and ending up fifth in the drivers’ standings.

Leading McLaren’s Lando Norris and team mate Charles Leclerc in the final standings, Carlos Sainz was ‘the best of the rest’, behind the drivers of Red Bull Honda and Mercedes, who could count on much faster cars. The Ferrari team principal, Mattia Binotto, finally expressed his intention to discuss with a contract renewal with Carlos, as his current deal is expiring in 2022, and from Spain there is talk of a possible new two-year agreement that would bring the term of both contracts of the Prancing Horse drivers available until the end of 2024.

Carlos Sainz, for his part, once again sent clear messages that his intention is to continue with Scuderia Ferrari:

“I’m in no hurry to renew, having yet another year from my contract. But it’s true that right now I don’t see myself anywhere other than Ferrari, both in the medium and long term. I am happy here, I have a lot of fun and after every weekend I come home with a smile and the pride of being a Ferrari driver. And if the good results are added to this, I think there will not be a better car than Ferrari”, he said in an interview granted to the Spaniards of AS.

The 27-year-old from Madrid then analyzed his recent seasons: “When I joined Renault in 2018, my team was the best of the rest. And the same in 2019 and 2020 at McLaren and in 2021 at Ferrari, they are four consecutive years. I don’t know how much of my contribution there is in this statistic, but I like to be part of it.” – Carlos Sainz concluded.
