Ferrari may have dropped a subtle ‘hidden’ hint regarding the possible livery of the SF-26, which will be unveiled at the official presentation on January 23.
The Maranello team seems to have left a small clue about the potential design that could appear on the Ferrari SF-26 during the upcoming launch event. Here’s what we might expect.
Several news items have emerged regarding the chassis 678, the internal code name for the car, particularly focusing on its technical features. The 2026 regulatory changes bring generational updates, including active aerodynamics and equal power distribution between the internal combustion engine and the electric unit. Ferrari is reportedly facing organizational challenges and delays with the SF-26 due to last-minute modifications that required additional testing. So far, there have been no official hints or leaks about the car’s livery, which is mostly an aesthetic detail. However, the team may have given subtle ‘spoilers’ through a combination of colors tied to the car’s name.
Red, black, and white: the three main colors of the SF-26?
As has happened in previous years, Ferrari revealed the name of its new F1 car via social media with a short video. With the SF-24, for example, careful attention to the color pattern showed the letters ‘SF’ in white and the number ’24’ in yellow, all on a red background. The car also featured yellow and white lines along the bodywork. A similar approach was followed for the SF-25, where ‘SF’ appeared in white and the number ’25’ in a slightly darker red, again on a red background. That darker red tone was later used on the actual car.
Looking at the colors used so far, it is possible to speculate that the SF-26 could combine black, white, and a brighter red for its livery, which will be revealed at Fiorano on January 23. Of course, this is pure speculation, drawn from a series of subtle hints and following a historical pattern in Ferrari’s design choices. Meanwhile, the first online renders have already appeared, with one in particular showing the SF-26 as visually stunning. Naturally, the ultimate priority is that the car is fast; without competitive performance, all the recent months of work would be in vain.
As the reveal date approaches, the excitement surrounding the pairing of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton in these potential new colors continues to grow. Whether the “hidden” hints about a red, black, and white livery prove accurate or if Ferrari has another surprise in store, the SF-26 represents the most significant clean-sheet design from Maranello in over a decade. The focus now shifts to Fiorano on the 23rd to see if this new visual identity marks the beginning of a championship-winning era.
