According to Helmut Marko, Red Bull’s victory in Singapore could be hindered by Leclerc. With only eight GPs left in the 2023 Formula 1 season, it’s becoming increasingly likely that Red Bull will manage to win all the races. Helmut Marko himself is well aware of this. Naturally, the primary goal is to secure both championships in Sunday’s Singapore race.
Among all the remaining GPs, however, Red Bull is not entirely confident of winning at the Marina Bay city circuit. Last year, despite Segio Perez winning, Charles Leclerc took pole position, posing a significant challenge to the Mexican driver. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen had even finished in seventh place. In previous years, the battle had always been between Mercedes and Scuderia Ferrari.
Helmut Marko, considering what was seen at Monza, sees Ferrari (especially Charles Leclerc) as the favorite at the Maria Bay Street Circuit in Singapore: “My expectations? We’ve had a competitive car everywhere, so why shouldn’t it be the same in Singapore? However, Ferrari has Charles Leclerc, who is a specialist on that track. If they are faster in qualifying, it could be a problem for us, as overtaking is very difficult in Singapore. But I’m still optimistic that the package we bring to Singapore is good enough to win.” – he concluded.
