Italian journalist Giorgio Terruzzi, a great expert on Formula 1, took stock of the situation regarding the first three rounds of the 2023 season and the upcoming races. In particular, he focuses on the change of pace that Formula One will experience in May: from a three-week stop to four races in a month. Baku, Miami, Imola and Monaco have an important task: to make it clear whether the fate of the World Championship is already written or if we will see a fight until the last lap.
“Four important races, on several levels because on the one hand those who manage Formula 1 are faced with a flurry of key appointments thinking of the eagerly awaited show in the United States, the motorsport tradition of Imola, the somewhat dull but always fascinating ritual of Monte Carlo ; on the other hand, it is necessary to verify the hold of a technical supremacy, that of Red Bull and Max Verstappen, devastating precisely thinking of the competitive tension, still fundamental to make races interesting and attractive not only to the hardcore Formula 1 fans” – Giorgio Terruzzi writes in an article for the Red Bull website.
Much of the journalist’s contribution concerns a division or contrast between two aspects that many are underlining: Formula One is constantly looking for entertainment, but with the dominance of Red Bull, like any other team, the interest in seeing the races is lost:
“It seems like a marked year regarding the winner of the Formula 1 world titles. Which, after just three races, waiting for other 20 races, counts as a very disabling handicap for a growing series of events and the search for further progress” – the Italian journalist pointed out.
“Therefore, everyone is against Red Bull, even for reasons that are not purely sporting-related. I’m talking about the need to offer entertainment more connected to uncertainty because however you look at it, a season that lasts an entire year, with an undisputed result after a few months, would complicate life to anyone”.

What would bring interest back this season, then? The journalist is convinced of this: “Should Alonso win, should Hamilton win, should Russell win, should someone else win, dear grace, a Ferrari, perhaps with Charles Leclerc, whose value remains fundamental for the fate of the entire sport. Perhaps without that confusion seen in Melbourne, similar to a spectacular substitute that in any case has nothing to do with the hierarchy. What is needed is higher quality than the stopwatch, nothing else. And also removing the suspicion that ingredients of a different nature could intervene in order to restore balance to a World Championship that for many seems already decided.” – he concluded.
