In the latest episode of his podcast, Formula 1 journalist Giorgio Terruzzi focused on a problem that Scuderia Ferrari has been experiencing for years: communication. Indeed, since the beginning of the year, there has been a disconnect between the words of administrators, team principals, and experts and what actually happens on the track. In particular, the journalist highlights how Benedetto Vigna has recently remained silent on the matter.
“Benedetto Vigna was mentioned by Fred Vasseur as his primary point of contact but has disappeared from the scene. I would like to know what he is doing, what he is saying, but also what they are saying to Vasseur. He always seems detached from what is happening, smiling and saying things out of place on Saturdays, predicting phenomenal Sundays that never materialize. After the Grands Prix, he talks about trivialities as if the problems were unsolvable. Can we delve into the matter?” stated the Italian journalist.
The criticism does not stop there, as the journalist emphasizes that perhaps this method is exactly what Ferrari is seeking: “One of the drivers finished eleventh, and the other went from second to fifth. You can’t say that now there is a clearer picture and that the potential is there. Only he has seen an improvement in performance. But it doesn’t do much for his reputation to do this: either he thinks we are all stupid, or he should straighten up. Maybe it’s the Ferrari system that forces him to adopt a certain attitude, but they don’t realize that it’s embarrassing for him and offensive to those who listen.” – Giorgio Terruzzi believes.
The discussion then moves on to Charles Leclerc’s disastrous qualifying performance in the Spanish GP: how is it possible that the Ferrari driver finished only nineteenth? What was wrong with the car? The team has yet to answer these questions. “Leclerc finished nineteenth in qualifying, but there has been silence. Clearly, something is strange because it’s impossible that they didn’t find anything, and then they change the rear end. Saying nothing implies calling Leclerc stupid. They can even conduct investigations and, after a while, say what they found, so they save him. By remaining silent, they insinuate that it was the driver’s fault when he was like a hyena,” Giorgio Terruzzi continued.

Almost as if he had heard the podcast, Benedetto Vigna intervened yesterday at the Bloomberg Capital Market Forum, where he discussed not only Ferrari’s path towards electric vehicles but also highlighted the Scuderia’s difficulties this year, stating: “It’s not easy; sometimes you slide down four floors and can’t see the end. But with work, passion, skills, and heart, in the end, you rise again. I’ve been through it many times.” – Benedetto Vigna explained following the Spanish Grand Prix.
