Frederic Vasseur: “I expect Hamilton to reach the podium”
Frederic Vasseur is convinced that in 2025 Lewis Hamilton will finally secure a podium finish. So far, the British driver has managed to reach the top 3 in every Formula 1 season of his career.
Lewis Hamilton and the podium drought
When Lewis Hamilton signed with Ferrari, he certainly did not expect that his first 16 races wearing the famous red suit – the one he had dreamed of since childhood – would not bring him even a single podium. Yet, the 2025 season still sees the seven-time world champion without a top-3 result, with Didier Pironi’s long-standing record dangerously close (Lewis Hamilton would equal it at Austin).
According to Frederic Vasseur, however, Hamilton’s podium drought is bound to come to an end, especially considering the improvement in his race pace and the change in approach he has shown since the summer break.
Fred Vasseur’s words
“He was able to fight with George Russell at Zandvoort and managed to climb from tenth place to finish right on Russell’s tail,” explained the Frenchman. “Yes, we can expect to see Lewis back on the podium.” – the Ferrari team boss pointed out.
Never before in his Formula 1 career has Lewis Hamilton completed an entire season without stepping on the podium. The seven-time Formula 1 world champion has collected an impressive 202 top-3 finishes and holds the record for the highest number of consecutive years with at least one podium in Formula 1, currently standing at 18 seasons.
