Charles Leclerc may not have claimed victory like he did a year ago, but his performance at the United States Grand Prix in Austin still left a significant mark. The race was dominated by a thrilling duel between the Ferrari driver and McLaren’s Lando Norris. Although Norris ultimately came out on top, he had to fight hard against a determined Charles Leclerc, who was eager to return to the podium after five races without a top-three finish—the longest stretch since the Belgian Grand Prix.
Charles Leclerc started the race on soft tires to capitalize on the start, successfully moving into second place behind Max Verstappen, who gradually disappeared into the distance. The Ferrari driver defended his position from Lando Norris’ attacks, conceding only shortly before the McLaren driver’s pit stop. After Norris pitted, Charles Leclerc regained second place and held it firmly.
Despite eventually yielding to Lando Norris just a few laps from the finish, Charles Leclerc’s performance secured a podium for Ferrari. Team principal Frederic Vasseur praised Charles Leclerc’s display in an interview with Canal+: “I am proud of the team,” Fred Vasseur said. “Leclerc gave us an incredible defense against Norris. He was very aggressive in his strategic choices and drove exceptionally well. I am very happy for him and for the team.”
