Ferrari is preparing to face the Canadian GP, and on the eve of the race weekend, Fred Vasseur takes stock of the situation.
This weekend, after a one-week break, F1 returns. For the tenth round of the championship, the premier class of Motorsport heads to Canada. Ferrari, coming off two podiums in the last three races, aims to solidify its second place in the Constructors’ Championship while also trying to close the gap to McLaren. Ferrari Team Principal Fred Vasseur introduced the Canadian GP. What should we expect from the Maranello team?
Last year, Ferrari did not shine in the Canadian round. The Maranello team went home with zero points after both drivers, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr., retired. This year, Ferrari will try to make up for that and turn its season around.
Fred Vasseur’s words
Fred Vasseur, Ferrari Team Principal, explained the work done during the break: “We worked with maximum commitment at the Maranello factory to prepare as best we could for the Canadian Grand Prix, which takes place on a circuit very different from those we’ve raced on recently.” The Gilles-Villeneuve circuit is a concern. The track is built on the artificial island of Notre-Dame and is 4,361 meters long. Its layout features slow corners, very fast sections, and three long straights. Unlike Imola, Monaco, and Barcelona, the Canadian track offers many overtaking opportunities, also thanks to its three DRS zones.
Fred Vasseur also commented on Ferrari’s recent results: “We’re coming off a series of races where we made progress both in terms of performance and execution, especially on Sundays. We want to continue on this path, maximizing our result in Montreal as well and bringing home the best possible haul of points.” – the French manager concluded ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix, which is set to take place at the 4.361-kilometre Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal on Sunday.
