The first part of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship is turning out to be a bitter disappointment for the Prancing Horse, which lined up at the start as one of the main contenders for the title. Ferrari is not living up to the preseason declarations, McLaren seems out of reach, and Charles Leclerc is showing signs of impatience. However, Fred Vasseur is not worried and continues to pamper the Monegasque driver.
After nine rounds of the 2025 Formula 1 championship, Ferrari does find itself in second place in the Constructors’ Championship, but the preseason statements had led to much higher expectations. McLaren is the undisputed top force in the paddock, while the Scuderia is struggling. The SF-25 — over nine Grands Prix — has only reached the podium three times, all thanks to Charles Leclerc.
The 1997-born driver is trying to extract maximum performance from a car that still seems too fragile and complicated. After Barcelona, the Monegasque driver called for fixes to the SF-25. “Unless we bring updates very soon, I think it will be difficult to fight consistently for the podium,” Charles explained.
Fred Vasseur reassures: “Charles Leclerc is not looking for a better seat”
The growing discontent around the Maranello team has led some to speculate that Charles Leclerc’s impatience is becoming irreversible. The number 16 driver of the Italian team has always professed loyalty to the Prancing Horse, but — now in his seventh year with the team — success still seems like a mirage.
Fred Vasseur said he is not worried. Speaking to La Stampa, the French manager wanted to praise his driver: “He’s in love with Ferrari, his career has had only one color since the academy and his beginnings in GP3.”
“He’s tied to the company and the team, he’s not looking around for a better seat but is part of the project, part of this family. And I respect him a lot for that,” the Ferrari team principal explained.
