Fred Vasseur explains why locking down Charles Leclerc was a natural choice for Ferrari. Frederic Vasseur highlights Charles Leclerc’s deep connection to Ferrari after new deal.

Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur has described Charles Leclerc’s contract extension as a completely natural decision, following the official announcement that the Monegasque driver will continue his journey with the Scuderia for the coming Formula 1 seasons.

The renewal further strengthens one of the most significant partnerships on the current Formula 1 grid. Although Charles Leclerc was not approaching the end of his previous agreement, both driver and team chose to formalize their long-term commitment, sending a clear message about their shared ambition to bring a world championship back to Maranello.

Ferrari and Charles Leclerc continue together

The extension reinforces Charles Leclerc’s position at the center of Ferrari’s future plans. Since joining the Scuderia in 2019, the Monegasque driver has become one of the team’s defining figures, building a strong relationship with Ferrari both on and off the track.

Commenting on the announcement, Frederic Vasseur explained why extending Charles Leclerc’s contract was viewed as a straightforward and logical step.

“Charles has been part of the Ferrari family for many years now, and this renewal is something very natural for us. Over these seasons, we have watched him grow not only into one of the strongest drivers in Formula 1, but also into a person who deeply lives and understands the connection with this team and everything Ferrari represents.”

Vasseur highlights Leclerc’s commitment

Frederic Vasseur also praised Charles Leclerc’s attitude, work ethic and dedication, qualities that have helped make him one of the cornerstones of Ferrari’s long-term project.

“We appreciate his talent, we love his determination and the way he approaches every day alongside the people in the team, both on and off the track. We know how much this project means to him, and we are happy to continue working together to achieve the goals that we share.”

The comments underline the mutual trust that has developed between Ferrari and Charles Leclerc over the years. Despite interest from rival teams and periodic speculation regarding his future, the Monegasque driver has consistently reaffirmed his commitment to the Scuderia and his desire to win a world championship in Ferrari colours.

With the new agreement now in place, Ferrari can continue building its future around one of Formula 1’s most talented drivers. For Frederic Vasseur and the Maranello-based team, the Monegasque remains a central piece of the project as Ferrari looks to return to the top of the sport in the seasons ahead.
