After achieving his career-best result in Mexico City, Ferrari junior Oliver Bearman responded to rumors suggesting he could be Lewis Hamilton’s future successor in Maranello. The young Haas driver emphasized that he is focused only on his growth and contributing to the team.
In the days following the Mexican Grand Prix, Formula 1’s official website described him as “Lewis Hamilton’s natural heir at Ferrari” after a flawless performance at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodríguez. However, Ollie Bearman downplayed the speculation, saying: “One weekend they say one thing, the next the opposite. The media loves their headlines. It was a great weekend, and I’m happy, but I don’t care too much. I just think about performing well and bringing points to the team.”
The young British driver, promoted to F1 through the Ferrari Driver Academy, impressed in qualifying by reaching Q3 and starting sixth on the grid. He then took advantage of the collision between Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, and George Russell to briefly move into the top three. Ultimately, he secured a fourth-place finish that left a strong impression.
Despite this result, Ollie Bearman maintains a realistic approach: “It was a good weekend, but we must be honest: we can’t expect to fight for the top four or five every time. It was a bit lucky as a result, even though the pace was excellent, especially in the race.” – the Ferrari Driver Academy member pointed out ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix weekend at the Interlagos circuit.
The British driver also acknowledged Haas’ improvements but keeps his focus: “Our goal for the upcoming races is to consistently stay in the points.”
With calmness and maturity, Ollie Bearman shows the mindset of a veteran. Rumors about a future at Ferrari can wait; for now, his only thought is to keep surprising on the track.
