Davide Valsecchi commented on the qualifying session of the Miami Grand Prix, highlighting an important factor for Ferrari in terms of race strategy.
Davide Valsecchi’s comments
This is the analysis from the former Sky Sport F1 commentator, made live on his own YouTube channel: “Ferrari missed out on the pole position.”
“Considering how the Sprint race went, however, it’s crucial to attack Verstappen at the first braking point [after the start, editor’s note].”
“Why do I say this? Because we’ve seen that in the last part of the stint, every time he [Verstappen, editor’s note] manages to increase the pace.” – he explained.
“For Ferrari, it will be important, with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, to cause trouble at the first braking point, otherwise winning becomes very, very complicated.”
“In terms of podium, however, watch out for Sergio Pérez, who in the last laps of the Sprint race showed he has the pace to close in on Charles Leclerc.”
“I’m curious to see how the race will unfold, we’ll find out,” Davide Valsecchi concluded, cautiously optimistic about Ferrari’s performance.
The Scuderia aims for its first double podium of the season, but the possibility of securing the victory – besides being enticing – is quite concrete, even though beating Max Verstappen will be anything but easy.
It will require a perfect execution of the race to beat someone who has been perfecting their execution for several years now.
