Jean Alesi is one of the very few drivers who have always had a very special place in the hearts of Formula 1 fans: determination, competitive spirit, generosity, an almost pioneering way of interpreting racing: these are just some of the characteristics that have made the former Tyrrell driver an icon of the nineties (he competed 202 Grands Prix, winning the 1995 Canadian Grand Prix for Scuderia Ferrari).
Once he retired from the sport at the end of the 2001 Formula 1 championship, Jean Alesi raced for some years in the DTM competition, subsequently dedicating himself to the role of television commentator.
The former Ferrari driver is also a regular presence in the paddock and in the last five years he has actively followed his son Giuliano (who after his experience in Formula 2, emigrated to Japan from 2021 to compete in the Super GT and Super Formula). This possibility allowed him to observe the latest and best-known events of Formula 1 from a position that is undoubtedly ‘privileged’.
Therefore, in a long interview granted for the Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport, in which he once again reiterated his great love for Juventus (Tuttosport is newspaper published in Turin), the French professional racing driver of Italian origin expressed his hopes that despite the titles already assigned, the last two races of the 2022 Formula One campaign can still reserve some surprises, if nothing else at least on the track:

“I think the last two races will be fun and hard-fought. I will attend the final event in Abu Dhabi, as I am convinced that it will be a great party, the worthy conclusion of a beautiful championship” – Jean Alesi said, as reported by Tuttosport.
The former Scuderia Ferrari driver was of course asked about the most controversial aspect of the 2022 season: Red Bull’s breach of the budget cap, as Jean Alesi offered a clear interpretation of the events:
“I do not want to enter into the details of the issue, nor participate in any controversy. The point is when I heard that the budget cap would be introduced in Formula 1, I immediately thought that someone could have developed some tricks to find a way around the rules.” – he pointed out. Still on the subject, Jean Alesi concluded: “If you put yourself in the shoes of the big teams, in order to stay within the permitted spending levels they had to fire engineers and technicians, cut staff, reduce developments, so I understand how tangible the discontent can be. At the same time, however, I trust that this year’s lesson will serve to avoid problems in the future.” – former Formula 1 driver Jean Alesi said.
