Starting with the Belgian Grand Prix, the technical directive TD039 was introduced by the Federation to counteract the phenomenon of porpoising, an aerodynamic bouncing effect inherent in ground-effect cars that has put in difficulty especially Mercedes and also Ferrari.
From Spa onwards, the F1-75 struggled more to be competitive, especially in terms of race pace, compared to the excellent first half of the season in which the Maranello team secured four race wins and could have taken even more without several reliability problems, wrong decisions from the pitwall and a few driving errors made by the drivers.
After the summer break, however, only in Singapore – and only with Charles Leclerc – did Ferrari really have the opportunity to win a Grand Prix, while in all other races the superiority in terms of race pace of Red Bull (but also Mercedes in Holland, the United States and Mexico) was quite clear-cut.
formulapassion.it tech experts Carlo Platella and Federico Albano met to discuss the possible effects of the technical directive on the performance of the Ferrari F1-75. The video is in Italian, to watch it in your preferred language, please activate the subtitles:
